Fashion week in NYC
What:
Designers produce fashion shows to show off their latest collections. The most recent show was in February 2010 for Spring 2011 Fashion Week. Currently, the shows are sponsored by Mercedes-Benz so they are referred to as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. in the past, they've been referred to by other sponsors such as Olympus Fashion Week.
When:
Twice a year. The Fashion Week fall shows are held the preceding winter (February). The spring shows are held the preceding late summer (September).
Who:
Fashion shows are attended by journalists, editors, buyers, celebrities and social types. The Fashion Week shows are invitation-only and each fashion designer is responsible for the guest list. Journalists must seek accreditation prior to the event. Meaning: If you dont have an invitation your are not allowed in!
Why:
Fashion Week is a great opportunity for American (and a few international) designers such as Oscar de la Renta to Zac Posen or even Diane Von Furstenburg (she is one of my favorite DESIGNERS)to show off their FAB collections. The fashion shows are often entertaining, accompanied by loud, mood-setting music and changing lighting. Some might think its BORING..but others enjoy the excitement of Models walking down the Runway in such BEAUTIFUL clothing/Designes! Fashion Week in New york is so INCREDIBLE and trust me its worth it!

2011 Oscars Fashion:What should they Wear?
Its the most scrutinised red carpet event of the year, and Everyone is Asking what should these HOLLYWOOD STARLETS wear to the OSCARS?! Well i have some FAB Designers picked out for each of the Nominees to wear on that FunFilled Night.
NATALIE PORTMAN:
Portman might be about to give birth any minute, but snagged the best actress award for her role in Black Swan at both Golden Globes awards and BAFTAs,This dramatic Alexander McQueen creation hits all the right gothic notes, while providing the perfect home for that well-advanced baby bump.
NICOLE KIDMAN:
Best actress-nominated Kidman has been WORKING the red carpet for decades now and known for a streamlined silhouette, this tight-fitting gown by veteran designer Oscar de la Renta would provide just the right amount of high-wattage sparkle without compromising her signature unfussy style.
MICHELLE WILLIAMS:
Her lead role in the heartbreaking movie Blue Valentine has earned Michelle Williams a best actress nomination As well, she should look to Lebanese couturier Elie Saab for a creation from his latest haute couture collection, such as this sheer,crystal-embellished gown with sleeves.
AMY ADAMS:
Nominated for a best supporting actress award for her lead role in The Fighter,is in love with Elie Saab after attending one of his recent CATWALK shows. so This vivacious red gown could be a very bold choice for the long-haired redhead.
and Lastly ANNETTE BENING:
The Kids Are All Right star really knows how to work a simple gown, but loves an exaggerated neckline to spice things up a bit basically to give it a little KICK as Guy fieri would say!LOL. This black,floor-sweeping number by New York Fashion Week designer Monique Lhuillier(LOVE HER)ticks all the right boxes should she climb up to the podium to collect the best supporting actress award.
